Free Gmail Stickers - Get ‘em While They’re Hot!
Monday, December 8th, 2008 | Funny, Promotion, google | No Comments

They just posted over at the official Gmail blog that apparently the engineering team had recently suffered from a bad case of holiday spirit and decided to print up in bulk some of the homemade stickers that had been circulating through the office. Everything from some wacky Gmail keyboard shortcuts, a bunch of shiny envelopes, a robot and even a friggin’ unicorn. Yes, a unicorn.
So, if you want some free Gmail stickers of your own, all you have to do is send a self-addressed stamped envelope (with short note if possible) to:
Send me some Gmail stickers already

I so want the unicorn:

Opentape - The Free, OpenSource Alternative to Muxtape
Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 | Hack, Music, New Beginnings, Open Source, Twitter, WebApps | No Comments

With the recent demise of Muxtape, a group of developers have gotten together to release an open-source online mixtape package named Opentape.
Personally I think this application is far superior to Muxtape, which recently had been forced offline by the RIAA for copyright infringement. You can upload songs to your Opentape server via web or FTP, rename, reorder, customize the style and then share the mix on any website through an embedded player.
They’ve even set up a twitter account so you can stay updated on their progress/new releases via tweets. Find them at @opentape.
Visit opentape.fm to read more about the project, or click here to go to the direct download page.
Requirements
Apache 1.x, 2.x with PHP 5. Many other webservers will do fine as well.
PHP 5 curl extension is required for update notification and publishing to the Opentape Discovery Network.Supported/Tested Browsers

Get Chris Anderson’s “Free” for FREE!
Monday, February 25th, 2008 | Books, Business, Marketing, Promotion, Unusual | 2 Comments
It must be nice to be the editor of Wired Magazine, because to promote his latest book entitled “Free,” Chris Anderson is going to showcase a chunk of it in next month’s issue of the magazine and as a clever promotion you can register to get a FREE copy. It’s only for the first 10,000 people who sign up, so hurry before it’s too late.
To sign up for your free copy of Wired Magazine featuring Chris Anderson’s new book, just follow the link here: Get “Free” for Free.
A nice way of promoting the very material that he’s trying to sell, the business of “free.” From what I’ve read so far, it’s all about the marketing technique of providing the user with a free service or product. In return you end up with a company evangelist who will, “potentially,” purchase your products. Not only that, but because they were hooked when it was free, their more likely to relate the brand to a positive experience, which would better enable them to share it with friends/co-workers/family members….. I think you can see where I’m going with this one.
Anyhow, sign up if you’re interested… I just thought that I’d pass the info along.
Once again, here’s the link: Get “Free” for Free.
Enjoy!
